R500 Dream Nails Voucher courtesy of Cosmopolitan

So a little while ago I won a dream nails voucher through Cosmopolitan Magazine.

Having recently received the most amazing Shellac mani and pedi at Urban Apothecary, I was quite excited for another one!

However, Dream nails don't do Shellac, so I booked their version of a long lasting paint job (some strengthened nail polish, I forget the name, and trust me you don't need to know it) in a mani and pedi, at the Canal Walk branch.
Now, let me just refresh your memory:

Urban apothecary:

Stunning.

This is Dream Nails's version:

So. Gross.  And the entire experience was just revolting.  And I bled.  Pedicures are not supposed to make you bleed.  Not only do I have a pretty terrible paint job on my toes, I also have scabs.  Lovely.

AND, the whole thing cost R575 (!)  so to add insult to (literal) injury I had to pay extra!

This was a prize, a freebie, and in hindsight I would rather have thrown the gift card away, as I now have to pay someone (else) to remove this mess.

A petty big fail for Dream Nails Canal Walk.  Urban Apothecary every time!

Competitions and giveaways from the past week.

This week my Crawf and I learnt about the greatest gift of all (!!!!), but I'll try to keep too much of the personal stuff out of this very serious blog.

What I can do is share my pick of the best giveaways for the past week:

(I'll be honest, the comp above looks a bit suspect to me, but the prize is worth the risk.  Worst case, you've waisted 2 minutes of your day, and given CityMob your contact details)

Good luck peoples!

Robertson Wine Festival Tickets

I still got it!  Today I won a set of double tickets to this weekend's Robertson Wine Valley Festival.

Fantastic news, and thanks very much to Taste Magazine for the prize.  Unfortunately I didn't pay proper attention and as I'm in Cape Town this weekend, I wont be able to make use of them!

Anyway, they've been passed on to the in-laws and i'm sure they'll enjoy all the 'tastings'.
